Hello World!

The Education for Peace Team has been working with displaced people in Khartoum and their host communities since 2014. As we are displaced people, most of us living in camps since 2009-2013, we know the challenges that are faced daily. The greatest current challenge is to provide hope for displaced youth. The levels of crime in camps and in host communities has increased dramatically in recent years. The need for education and the opportunity for young people to deal with trauma in a positive way is urgent. Camp communities are dealing with young people who have nothing to do and nowhere to go and this negative experience leads to violence. Violence and fighting in camps and between camp residents and host communities happens on a daily basis. Talking with displaced people and host communities has increased our perception of the urgency of this project to help youth deal with trauma, contribute to their community in a positive way and give them an outlet to be creative and to feel good about themselves and their futures.
