Drama for Peace

Drama is known to be an effective peace building tool. Young people in camps have little to no experience of expressing themselves and sharing their ideas and skills in a positive way. Bringing displaced youth together to work on meaningful creation (drama workshops) with clear outcomes of value shared with the wider community (drama performances) is a new way to address increasing rates of violence among camp youth and between camps and host communities. The staff of Education and Drama for Peace are camp residents who experience the same challenges and share the trauma of the target groups who this project will benefit. This project connects with the diversity of cultural groups within camps by utilising this diversity as a strength in creating entertaining and informative dramas which will be performed for all camps residents and host communities.
